01Both are lifesteal servers now
Lifesteal and CHEAT SMP answer the same question: how do you make a fight on a survival server count? Since Oct 31, 2026, they answer it the same way first. Win a PvP fight and you take a heart.
The lifesteal idea took off with the Lifesteal SMP creator series, which Fanlore says was created by Mapicc with help from Parrotx2 and has run since 2020. Public lifesteal servers copied the core rule, and now it's a whole genre. CHEAT SMP keeps that rule and changes what sits around it: a safety floor, opt-in PvP, anti-farm limits, and a full power system with Heat and WANTED.
02How classic lifesteal works
MinecraftServers.org sums it up: when you kill another player, you gain a heart and they lose one. Hearts can push you above or below the normal 10, servers usually cap the max, and on the most hardcore servers losing your last heart gets you banned. Some servers let you craft or trade hearts.
Rules vary a lot. The LifeSteal SMP server at ms.lifestealsmp.com, per its MinecraftServers.org listing, uses half-heart steals, a 20-heart cap, and a floor of 10 hearts, so you can't drop below normal health. It's semi-vanilla, allows raiding, and supports Bedrock at be.lifestealsmp.com.
03How hearts work on CHEAT SMP
Win an opted-in PvP fight in Survival (both players have /pvp on) and you steal 1 heart: you gain 1 max heart, they lose 1.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Starting hearts | 10 (normal health) |
| Steal per kill | 1 heart |
| Floor | 5 hearts; nobody is ever banned or eliminated |
| Cap | 20 hearts; extra steals become a Stolen Heart item |
| Same killer, same victim | Once per hour |
| Never costs hearts | Arenas, Reality Crash heats, mobs, falls, lava |
Commands: /hearts shows yours or another player's, /hearts top shows the leaderboard, and /hearts withdraw [n] turns hearts above 5 into tradeable Stolen Heart items (not while fighting). Right-click a Stolen Heart for +1 heart, up to 20.
04Side-by-side comparison
| CHEAT SMP | Typical lifesteal SMP | |
|---|---|---|
| Heart steal per kill | 1 heart | A heart (or half heart, depending on server) |
| Worst case | You bottom out at 5 hearts, never banned | Ban at zero hearts on hardcore servers |
| Max hearts | 20, then Stolen Heart items | Usually capped |
| PvP | Opt-in with /pvp | Usually always on |
| Heart items | Withdraw hearts above 5 as tradeable Stolen Hearts | Heart trading and crafting on some servers |
| Anti-farming | No hearts from same network, crew mates, new players or safe zones; same pair once per hour | Varies by server |
| Extra loop | Earned powers, Heat, WANTED bounties, nightly events, live market | Varies by server |
05Powers, Heat and WANTED on top
This is the part classic lifesteal doesn't have. Every power costs Heat. Dash is 18, Ore Ping 20, Short Flight 45. Max Heat is 100 and it cools down over time. Overheat in Survival with PvP on and you go WANTED for 180 seconds.
While WANTED you glow for 60 seconds. Hunters within 300 blocks get a compass ping to a 64x64 area, never your exact coords, with distance rounded to 50m. A valid kill mints a bounty: 250 Cheater Cash, +100 per extra overheat, up to 1,000, scaled by the market index. So a WANTED player is worth cash and a heart.
Deep dive: the Heat system and Most Wanted.
06What classic lifesteal does better
Lifesteal is simple and brutal. One rule, instant stakes, and every kill visibly changes someone's health bar. Big lifesteal servers have deep PvP scenes and Bedrock access. If you want the threat of elimination, CHEAT SMP's 5-heart floor will feel soft, and that's on purpose. If you want permanent consequences and you're good at fights, few modes feel as tense as hardcore lifesteal.
07Anti-farm rules: hearts vs bounties
Hearts are zero-sum, so revenge kills count: if someone takes your heart, you can take it back. The same killer can only take a heart from the same victim once per hour. No hearts come from players on the same network, crew mates, new players (first 2 hours or 25 Patches), or kills in safe zones.
Cash rewards are stricter. A WANTED bounty skips revenge trades within 30 minutes and pays the same killer and victim once per 24 hours. Players can also post their own player bounties, and three one-of-a-kind Legendary cheats can transfer when you kill the holder.

FAQFrequently asked questions
Does CHEAT SMP have lifesteal?
Yes. Since Oct 31, 2026, winning an opted-in PvP fight steals 1 heart. Everyone starts at 10, the floor is 5 and the cap is 20.
Can you get banned for losing hearts on CHEAT SMP?
No. You can't drop below 5 hearts, and nobody is ever banned or eliminated for losing hearts.
What happens when you lose all your hearts in lifesteal?
It depends on the server. MinecraftServers.org notes that on the most hardcore lifesteal servers, losing your last heart gets you banned. Some servers set a floor instead, like LifeSteal SMP's 10-heart minimum.
Is PvP forced on CHEAT SMP?
No. PvP is opt-in with /pvp. With PvP off you can't lose or steal hearts, and you can't go WANTED.
Who made the original Lifesteal SMP?
Fanlore credits Mapicc with creating Lifesteal SMP, with help from Parrotx2, starting in 2020.
