01Is Minecraft Dungeons 2 out?
Yes. The official name is Minecraft Dungeons II, and it launched on September 29, 2026.
Mojang revealed it with a trailer at Minecraft Live on March 21, 2026. It was then dated September 29 and released on that day.
It is made by Mojang Studios and Double Eleven, and published by Xbox Game Studios. Like the first game, it is an action RPG, not a survival game.

The Deluxe Edition adds four hero skins, the Soul cape, the Blub pet and DLC 1 and DLC 2 "as released." Pre-order bonuses ended September 28.

- On PlayStation or Switch? You need to buy it. The Standard Edition at $29.99 is the cheapest way in.
- Want the future DLC? The $49.99 Deluxe Edition includes DLC 1 and DLC 2, but their content and dates are not announced. You are paying ahead for content nobody has seen yet.
A safe plan: buy Standard now and decide on DLC once Mojang shows what is in it.
03Does Minecraft Dungeons 2 have co-op and crossplay?
- Co-op: up to 4 players, online or local couch co-op.
- Crossplay: supported across platforms with a linked Microsoft account.
- Online on console needs the platform subscription: an Xbox Game Pass tier with online play, PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online. PC needs none.
- Solo and local co-op need no subscription.
Reviewers singled out co-op as a highlight. Nintendo Life's review headline calls it a "Fun But Flawed" sequel "With Great Co-Op."
- Same couch: plug in extra controllers and add players locally. No subscription needed. On PC through Steam, Remote Play Together also works.
- Online, same platform: make sure everyone has the platform's online subscription on console, then invite friends from the game.
- Online, different platforms: each player links a Microsoft account to turn on crossplay, then joins the same session.
- Mixed: two players on one system can join friends online together.
Up to four heroes can play at once in any of these setups. If you are buying for a family, Game Pass Ultimate on Xbox covers both the game and online play.
04What is new in Dungeons II?
The story has you stopping a new evil that threatens "not one, but two worlds." Confirmed changes from official listings and reviews:
- A new realm called the Sift.
- A wider, connected world instead of only separate levels.
- Better combat and traversal.
- A more flexible build system and an in-game economy.
- Post-campaign activities.
If you liked the first game's loot loop, this is more of that, with more room to experiment.
Quick refresher: the original Minecraft Dungeons came out in 2020. It was a dungeon crawler in the Minecraft universe, with no crafting or block building, built around short levels, gear drops and couch co-op. Dungeons II keeps that base and makes the world bigger and more connected.
It also keeps the low price. At $29.99 for Standard, it costs the same as the Switch 2 version of regular Minecraft.

Reviews are mostly positive but mixed on depth. Scores below were quoted around launch week, and aggregate scores can shift as more reviews come in:

Critics praised combat, build variety and co-op. Common complaints were repetition, loot bloat and bugs that sometimes forced a restart. Most agree it refines the original rather than reinventing it.

Be careful with anything you read that goes past this list. Mojang has not officially announced:
- The names, content or release dates of DLC 1 and DLC 2.
- Any roadmap beyond those two DLCs.
- Official cross-progression (moving saves between platforms).
- A full platform-by-platform crossplay chart.
You may see posts claiming DLC themes, new heroes or a release month for the first DLC. Unless they link to Mojang, Xbox or an official store page, treat them as rumors.
