01What does "cheats" mean in Minecraft?
In Minecraft, "cheats" officially means commands. When you create a single-player world, the Allow Cheats option lets you run commands like /gamemode, /give and /tp. Opening a world to LAN has the same toggle.
On a multiplayer server it works differently. Commands are controlled by the server. Regular players only get the commands the server allows, and operator commands are kept for admins. So you cannot just "turn cheats on" in a public survival world.
That leaves players who want cheats in multiplayer with two options: run your own server, or find a server that gives cheats out on purpose. CHEAT SMP is the second kind.
02Why hacked clients are not the answer
The other kind of cheats are hacked clients and mods: fly, X-ray, kill aura and so on. Public servers ban them, and anti-cheat plugins like Grim are built to catch them by simulating player movement and comparing it to what your client reports.
That is true on CHEAT SMP too. Real hacked clients are bannable here. What is different is that you get the fun of cheating without breaking any rules.
Using a hacked client also ruins the game for everyone else on the server. When only cheaters can fly or see ores, nobody else has a fair shot. When everyone can earn it, it is just part of the game.

Miner and Speedster are free to pick in the tutorial. Builder unlocks at 50 Patches and Explorer at 100. Each pack also has a signature item, like the Miner's Super Pick or the Explorer's X-Ray Goggles, that puts some of those cheats on a right-click.
05It is still survival
You still mine, build, eat and survive nights. Cheats make it faster and stranger, not trivial:
- Heat: every power adds Heat, max 100. Overheat with PvP on and you go WANTED.
- Cooldowns: 12 to 30 seconds on core powers.
- Blocked zones: powers do not work in safe zones, the hub or some event rounds.
- Earned, not bought: unlocks come from Patches. See progression.

06Cheat combos that feel like hacking
- Vein mining with X-Ray: Miner pack's X-Ray Vision to spot a vein, then Vein Miner to clear it while Auto-Smelt handles the furnace work.
- Speed run travel: Speedster's Speed Boost and Double Jump, then Dash and Short Flight over obstacles.
- Instant loot pickup: Builder's Magnet Gauntlet pulls drops to you while Super Mine clears blocks.
- Night caving: Explorer's Night Vision with 24-block X-Ray Goggles.

07What you still cannot do
Cheats on CHEAT SMP are powers, not admin commands. You will not get /gamemode creative, /give or /op. Real hacked clients are still bannable. Powers stop working in safe zones, the hub and during some event rounds. And Patches, which unlock most powers, cannot be bought.
That keeps the survival part real. You still need food, shelter and a plan for the night. You just get to break the rules a little while you do it.
