01When did Minecraft 26.3 Wilderness Bound come out?
Wilderness Bound released on September 15, 2026. It is Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.50, out the same day.
It was the third game drop of 2026, after Tiny Takeover (26.1) and Chaos Cubed (26.2). Mojang revealed the name and date in early September.
It is a cozy, outdoorsy drop. Think autumn trees, campsites and new ways to decorate.
02What is the Dappled Forest biome?
The Dappled Forest is a new forest that generates near cold biomes like taiga and snowy areas.
- Poplar trees with red, orange or yellow leaves, plus fallen poplar logs.
- Shelf mushrooms growing on poplars in small and large sizes.
- Red shrubs, a decorative plant.
- Coarse dirt, leaf litter, brown mushrooms and a few spruce trees.
- Rabbits, foxes and cold variants of sheep, chickens, cows and pigs.
Poplar leaves drop colored particles. Shelf mushrooms are slightly bouncy, so you can land on them.
Remember: new biomes only generate in new chunks. You need to explore past where you have already been.

Two small extras: suspicious and mushroom stew now take any two mushrooms, and explorer maps are now their own items with icons that show the destination.
Want a specific poplar color? Poplar leaves drop saplings, and the Wandering Trader sells them too. On Java, any sapling can grow into any of the three colors.
Cushions are entities, not blocks. You can place them on any surface and sit on them. They pop off if a piston moves them or the block under them disappears.
- Craft 4 straw beds from 3 hay bales. They stack to 16.
- Sleep in one at night to skip to morning.
- Your spawn point does not change.
- The bed breaks after one use.
That makes them great for long trips. You skip the night without moving your respawn away from base. They do not work in the Nether or the End; there they are just destroyed instead of exploding.
04What are abandoned camps?
Abandoned camps are new surface structures. Mojang's Bedrock notes list a variant for each of 18 biomes, including meadow, taiga, swamp, savanna and pale garden.
- A white wool-stair tent with straw beds and cushions.
- Fences that match the biome.
- Sometimes a stone shelter, pond, crop patch or overgrown cobwebs.
- Loot chests and barrels.
Look for a hidden oxidized copper chest. It can hold explorer maps to an ancient city, mineshaft, desert pyramid or warm ocean ruins. Common chests hold maps to other camps.
05How do you find the new content fast?
- Head toward cold biomes. The Dappled Forest sits near taiga and snowy areas.
- Go past your old map edge. Only newly generated chunks get the new biome and camps.
- Look for white tents. Abandoned camps show up across many Overworld biomes, so you will often spot one on the way.
- Raid the camp chests. Their explorer maps point to more camps and bigger structures.
- Pack straw beds. They let you sleep on the road without losing your home spawn.

06What else changed in 26.3?
- Spectators can now use portals.
- Realms got invite codes (up to five per Realm) and render and simulation distance sliders.
- Endermen and shulkers can no longer teleport onto bedrock.
- Ender pearls reset your momentum.
- Raising a shield now beats tilling with a hoe or shovel.
- Faster structure locating and chunk generation.
- Java swapped GLFW for SDL3 for windows and input, and borderless fullscreen is now the default.
- Gothic language support.
