01How does The Rat work?
- A Reality Crash event starts with 4 or more participants.
- At least one participant has opted in with
/reality rat on. - One player may secretly become the Rat.
- The Rat can sabotage up to 3 times.
- Everyone votes on who the Rat is.

The Rat plays inside whatever the night's Reality Crash event is, stacking extra objectives and short Darkness or Slowness on top of the normal goals.
02Rewards

The Rat's payout is bigger, but it's one player against the room. Gems normally come at about 1 a day from playing and events, so either outcome is worth a few days of Gems.
Gems buy cosmetics, so either outcome turns into trails, auras, name colors or pets. Titles, including RAT SURVIVOR, are cosmetic and don't affect gameplay.
03Playing as the Rat
You get three sabotages. You don't have to use all three.
- Space them out. Three sabotages close together give people a tight window to think about who was nearby.
- Pick moments when everyone's busy. A sabotage that adds an objective lands harder when the group is already split.
- Act normal between sabotages. Do the event objectives like everyone else.
- Fewer can be safer. Every sabotage is a clue. One or two well-timed ones may beat three sloppy ones.
Remember the sabotage effects are short. Darkness or Slowness that lasts a moment slows the group without ending the event, which is the point: you want people confused, not certain.
04Catching the Rat
- Watch for new objectives. Sabotages add objectives. Note when they appear.
- Track Darkness and Slowness. Short bursts of either are a sabotage tell. Who was near the people hit?
- Count to three. The Rat has at most 3 sabotages. Once you've seen three, there's nothing left to watch for.
- Talk before the vote. Everyone who catches the Rat gets 2 Gems, so sharing what you saw costs nothing.
Remember the Rat is also doing the event. Someone who's always busy but never quite finishing their part is worth a closer look.
05Opting in
The Rat only happens when at least one participant has run /reality rat on. If you want a shot at the role, opt in. The 4-participant minimum means it mostly shows up on busier nights.
Opting in doesn't guarantee the role. It means you're in the pool on nights the event has 4 or more participants. Most nights, you'll still be a regular player trying to catch whoever drew it.
06Reward math: Rat vs catchers
The payouts favor the group when the Rat gets caught, and the Rat when it survives:

"Up to" because the 2 Gems go to each catcher. For the Rat, the math is personal: 5 Gems plus a title for one round is a strong payout when Gems usually come at about 1 a day.
07The Rat and the Hall of Infamy
The website's Hall of Infamy collects server moments automatically, like WANTED runs, bounty claims, Legendary transfers and Cheat Cup wins. The "RAT SURVIVOR" title is cosmetic, like every title on CHEAT SMP, and shows who pulled it off.
08Common Rat mistakes
- Burning all 3 sabotages early. That's a short list of suspects.
- Voting without talking. Catching the Rat pays every catcher.
- Blaming bad luck. Sudden Darkness or Slowness in an event can be the Rat.
- Expecting it every night. It needs 4+ participants and an opt-in.
